From a letter written by F. Colaricci, regarding the circumstances of Alessandro Patullo and Concetta Colaricci's wedding. ( English translation below )

English translation

"In 1929, in the house of my father, there was not joy but sorrow.

Alessandro Patullo came to my father and told him that he wanted to marry his daughter Concetta. My father said no. Alessandro, a good person, said to him "can you tell me the reason why not". My father responded, it's no because I say it's no. But Alessandro continued to ask my father, and my father prohibited him from coming any more to bother him. Alessandro and Concetta loved one another, and he continued to come frequently to the house, after my father had gone to bed. They made this sacrifice for a year, and then decided to marry one another. They would be married on June 30, 1930.

My father knew the day of the wedding. That morning, Concetta said to my father, today I'm getting married, do me the favour of honoring me.

My father said I will honor you with my absence, you should no longer come in to this house, and you should leave now. Rosa, Mario and I went, but the wedding was not very happy as we were thinking of my father's absence.

A few days later, a relative told me that the day of the wedding, we had heard my father crying at the house in Monteverde. And Concetta was crying as she left the house.

Concetta only came to the house when my father was in the country.

When Carmine was born, there was still no peace between my father, Alessandro, and Concetta.

In 1933, I went in to military service in the month of March, and was released after 9 months. When I returned home, Rosa called Concetta from the farmyard ( granary ? ), and she came with 3-yr old Carmine and Alessandro. I was without words, but I saw that peace had returned to the family."
